Frequently Asked Questions About Mobile Dog Grooming

Everything You Need to Know Before Your Dog’s Grooming Appointment
At Pet Inn Mobile Grooming, we want you and your pup to feel completely comfortable and confident about the grooming process. Whether you’re booking for the first time or you're a returning client, we’ve gathered the most common questions pet owners ask about mobile grooming, our services, and how to prepare for a stress-free appointment.
General Questions
How does mobile grooming work?
Mobile grooming is a full-service grooming session done in a specially outfitted van parked outside your home. We arrive at your scheduled time, groom your dog in our sanitized mobile salon, and return them to you clean, happy, and relaxed — no car rides or waiting rooms required.
What services do you provide?
We offer full-service dog grooming, bath & blow outs, nail trimming, de-shedding, de-matting, and more — all tailored to small and medium-sized dogs under 50 lbs. Our grooming packages include coat-specific shampoos, nail trimming, ear cleaning, brushing, and styling.
Do you groom large dogs or cats?
No — we specialize in grooming dogs up to 50 lbs only. We do not offer cat grooming.
Is mobile grooming more expensive than a salon?
Mobile grooming may cost slightly more due to the convenience, private service, and travel involved — but our clients agree the benefits are well worth it.
How long does a typical appointment take?
Most sessions take between 60 to 120 minutes, depending on your dog’s breed, coat condition, and behavior.
Grooming Safety & Comfort
Is mobile grooming safe for older or anxious dogs?
Yes. Alyssa is trained in Pet First Aid and CPR and specializes in one-on-one, low-stress grooming. Mobile grooming is ideal for senior dogs, rescue dogs, and pups that don’t do well in busy salons.
What kind of products do you use?
We only use vegan, hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and non-toxic grooming products — perfect for sensitive skin and environmentally conscious owners.
Will my dog be alone with the groomer?
Yes. Every grooming session is private. Alyssa grooms one dog at a time, giving your pup her full attention from start to finish.
Can I be with my dog during the appointment?
You’re welcome to observe from outside the van, but most dogs stay calmer when the grooming is handled independently.

Tips & Tricks: How to Prep Your Dog for Mobile Grooming
Even though our mobile service is calm and low-stress, preparing your dog in advance makes the session easier for both of you. Here’s how:
Take a Walk Before the Appointment
A 10–15 minute walk helps your dog burn off excess energy and stay relaxed during grooming. It’s especially helpful for high-energy or anxious pups.
Practice Touching Paws, Ears & Tail
If your dog isn’t used to being handled, gently touch areas like the paws and ears at home. This helps reduce stress during nail trims or ear cleaning.
Brush Your Dog Before the Session
A light brushing a day or two before grooming can help reduce tangles and loosen shedding fur — especially for long-haired breeds.
Choose a Safe, Accessible Parking Spot
Ensure there's a quiet, safe space near your home where Alyssa can park the grooming van. A calm location helps your dog stay relaxed during handoff.
Introduce Grooming Sounds
If your dog is nervous around noises like dryers or clippers, use YouTube videos or mobile apps to play those sounds softly and get them used to the environment.
Avoid Feeding Just Before the Appointment
Feeding a full meal right before grooming can cause discomfort. Feed your pup 1–2 hours in advance instead.
Use Comfort Items for Nervous Dogs
Have a favorite toy, blanket, or calming spray? Let Alyssa know. We’re happy to include comfort items during the session when safe to do so.
Communicate Any Special Needs
Share health notes, allergies, or behavioral concerns ahead of time so Alyssa can plan the safest and most comfortable session possible.
Stay Calm Yourself
Dogs pick up on your energy. Stay positive, relaxed, and encouraging before the appointment to help your dog feel confident too.
